PRAYER REQUESTS
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7
"Pray, then, in this way: 'Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.'" Matthew 6:9-13
- Pray for our strength to be strong and courageous at all times and to bring Glory to God in everything we do everyday.
- Pray for God to continue to raise an army of volunteers/friends to help with the care of the babies as they continue to grow up big and strong. We will need a lot of help and trust that God will continue to provide through the years.
- Pray for Meryl's health as she recovers from pushing her body to the limit to bring these babies to safety. She deserves to be praised for her heroic effort. The doctors describe what her body went through as the equivalent of running a marathon for days and days. She is still working towards full recovery on top of learning to take care of 5+1.
- Pray for wisdom as we navigate our lives with 6 children and that we would always make the best decisions for our family and trust in the Lord at all times no matter what challenges we face.
- Pray for both Dad and Mom to get time and be intentional about continuing to build a strong foundation/relationship with Gianna (our 3 year old). We pray that she will not get lost in the shuffle and that she will continue to develop into a beautiful spirit and child.
- Pray that we would trust that God will continue to be faithful and not give in to the spirit of despair when we think of what life would be like without the loving support of our family, friends and volunteers. We know God knows our needs financially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. He is faithful always to meet our needs. Let us rest in that.
- Pray for us financially to be able to live within our means with rising costs in our household. We really want to be debt free and trusting God for our day to day needs, but we need encouragement and help at times. Pray that we would be faithful and content with what God gives us daily. Also, pray for this area of our lives not to consume John and Meryl's relationship.
- Pray for us as a family to find ways to love our neighbors more. It is easy to be consumed with our daily needs and to forget the needs of those around us. We want to love our neighbors as ourselves. Pray that God would show us how we can be a blessing to those who live around us daily.
ANSWERED PRAYERS
"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened." Matthew 7:7-8
"This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked Him." I John 5:14-15
1. We found Dr. Elliott in week 10 of our pregnancy. Dr. Elliott is the best in the world for Higher Order Multiple Pregnancies. He consistently beats the national average for HOM gestation by a lot. That is why Meryl moved temporarily to Mesa, AZ to deliver the babies under his care. He has profoundly impacted the future lives and health of our quintuplets, and we are very thankful to God for preparing, equipping and motivating him with great passion for what he does. It was nice to have Dr. Elliott come see us and the babies in our home at the end of July. We can't imagine what this would have been like without his loving care and expertise.
2. We made it to 32 weeks and 5 days gestation on 9/26/12!! Yay! At 32+ weeks, the babies have a much better chance of survival and overall health and quality of life. We didn't break the world record or deliver on our goal date of 10/11/12 at 34 weeks, 6 days. But, we did have the healthiest set of Quintuplets ever born. Thank you God and Dr. Elliott for the good work.
3. Addison (Addy) is healthy and catching up with her brothers/sisters despite her weaker blood flow in utero and being born the smallest baby at 3lbs, 1 oz. God was faithful and watched over her safety and health. She is our little fighter!!
4. God provided over 30 volunteers on the final weekend of home preparation to help dad (John) get the house ready in time to bring the babies home on October 24th (2-3 weeks sooner than expected). Volunteers helped with painting, moving, and cleaning the home.
5. Meryl was given steroids on 9/24 (only 2 days before Gabby's water broke and triggered the early delivery). This helped with the babies breathing and other health issues. We were hoping for a delivery 15 days later. But, God is sovereign and only He knows why he had them delivered on 9/26. However, what we do know is that the babies are the healthiest set of Quints ever born. They went home from the NICU between 35 weeks and 35 weeks, 5 days gestational age (8 days earlier than any other set of quintuplets ever born).
6. God has been faithful daily with helping us get support with volunteers, financially, etc. It has been a huge test for our faith, and so far He has delivered all we need plus more. He is faithful. I'm always reminded that David beat Goliath with God's help a just a few stones. May we be strong and courageous and know that our God is powerful to do anything He wants.
7. God has provided us with all we need for the 1st year and more. A new Fridge, Diapers for the 1st year, Formula for the 1st year, a home, strollers, jumpers, swings, clothes, etc. It has been truly humbling to watch His Provision and Faithfulness to us.
8. We have continued to be blessed with volunteers and family who have made a significant sacrifice. We love them dearly and we are so grateful for their commitment to our family and God on our behalf. We would be overwhelmed without their love and support.
